Born at Retford, Nottinghamshire; son of George and Hannah Renham Cooper, of 34, Darrell Road, Retford. He was a foundry iron moulder prior to enlisting at Retford. He went to France on 16th March 1915 and was killed in action, 15th September 1916, during the attack near Guillemont, France during the Battle of the Somme.
