Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at New Houghton, Derbyshire. Son of Arthur and Kate Cooper, of 1, Bank Row, Pleasley Hill, Mansfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield. He was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, aged 20, in the attack on the German positions near Beaumont Hamel, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
