Son of Robert Cooper of 24, Eccelsmont Avenue, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was mason prior to enlisting on 6th January 1915 at Aberdeen. He was transferred to the 12th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and went to France on 11th January 1917. He was posted to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 2nd February 1917. He was Killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Sorrell Wood/Longeuval, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
