Son of Josiah and Emily Cooper, of 24, Rose Valley, Newhall, Burton-On-Trent, Staffordshire. He enlisted on 3rd August 1915 at Derby. He went to France on 12th May 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 18, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
