Born at Whittington, Derbyshire and lived at Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Husband of Lily Cooke. He enlisted at Chesterfield and went to France 16th October 1915 and was killed in action, 3rd May 1916, during the German shelling of the trenches near Ploegsteert, Belgium.
