Private Frank Conway

Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at New Mills Derbyshire. Son of Joseph and Mary Conway, of New Mills, Derbyshire. He was employed in a paper mill prior to enlisting 2nd June 1915 at Buxton, Derbyshire. He went to France 6th March 1916 and received gunshot wounds to his hand, 10th October 1916. He was admitted to 13 General Hospital Boulogne, France and rejoined his battalion 26th November 1916. He contracted influenza and was admitted to 13 General Hospital Boulogne, 26th February 1917. He was transferred to England on Hospital Ship Cambria, 3rd March 1917. He was treated at Edmonton Military Hospital, London. 3rd March 1917 to the 7th May 1917. He returned to France 10th September 1917 and was killed in action, 29th September 1918, during the attack on the St. Quentin Canal and Hindenburg Line, France.
