Born at Worksop, Nottinghamshire and lived at 16 Ryton Street, Worksop. Son of Herbert and Alice Eliza Coney, of 35, Victoria Road, Worksop, Nottinghamshire. he enlisted August 1915 at Retford, Nottinghamshire. He was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, aged 19, in the attack on the German portions near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.
