Born in Bolton, Lancashire. He lived in Burnley, Lancashire. Husband of Alice Jane Colton, of 19, Zion Street, Burnley. He was a fishmonger’s assistant on Burnely market prior to enlisting at Halifax, in October 1914. He went to France on 14th July 1915 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, in the German attack on the lines at Noreuil, France, on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or Kaiserschlacht.
