Private Francis Colkin

Battalion : 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of Francis and Emma Colkin, of 19, Grove Street, Hinckley, Leicestershire Husband of Rose Colkin, of 21, Grove Street, Hinckley, Leicestershire. He was a hoisery hand prior to enlisting 12th January 1916 and Hinckley into the 6th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He went to France 17th May 1917 and was transferred to the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 10th June 1917. He was killed in action, 30th July 1917, age 28, in an attack at Steenbeeke near Ypres, Belgium.
