Born and lived at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of John and Elizabeth B. Coleman, of 25 Duke Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a col miner at Blackwell Colliery prior to enlisting 29th October 1914 at Mansfield. He went to France 29th August 1915 and was killed in action, 27th March 1918. aged 34. whilst in the line near Vrely, France.
