Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Mary Coleman, of 23, Station Street, Sutton-In-Ashfield. He was a carter and milk seller prior to enlisting 16th May 1913 at Sutton-in-Ashfield. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 14th October 1915, age 19, whilst the battalion was holding the line at the Hohenzollern Redoubt near Loos, France.
