Born at Camberwell, Surrey, and lived at Thorneywood Rise, Nottingham. Son of Alexander and Elizabeth Cole of 25 Camplin Street, Deptford, London. ; Husband of Edith Emma Cole, of 2, Marmion Road, Thorneywood, Nottingham. He was a window cleaner prior to enlisting 14th August 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France 17th August 1915 and was killed in action, 5th October 1915, aged 40, by German shellfire, prior to heir attack on the British lines at Oder Houses near Potijze, Belgium.
