Private Fred Cockroft

Battalion : 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Halifax, Yorkshire. Son of Jeremiah and Emily Etta Cockroft, of 11, Gladstone View, Siddal, Halifax. He was a cotton twiner prior to enlisting 10th May 1916 at Halifax. He went to France 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, 4th May 1917, age 19, in the attacks at Malakoff and Cologne Farms, France.
