Company Sergeant Major Albert James Cockbill

Born and lived at Worcester. Son of William and Helen Cockbill, of Kington, Flyford Flavel, Worcester; Husband of Martha Annie Cockbill, of 1, Greenhill Terrace, London Road, Worcester. He was a groom prior to enlisting 18th August 1902 at Birmingham. He was promoted Corporal, 13th August 1908 and Sergeant 1st June 1913. He served in India from 11th February 1914 to the 7th September 1914. Promoted Company Sergeant Major 26th October 1914 and went to France 4th November 1914. Killed in action during the attack on Rouge De Bout, France, 9th May 1915, age 30, during the Second Battle of Artois.
