Battalion : 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Nottingham. Husband of Laura Cockayne, of 37 Church Street, Basford, Nottingham. He was a cycle factory hand prior to enlisting 8th December 1914 at Nottingham. He served in Gallipoli during 1915 and went to France 28th June 1916. He was killed in action, 26th September 1916, in the attack at Hessian and Zollern trenches near Thiepval , France during the Battle of the Somme.
