Born at Perlethorpe, Nottinghamshire and lived at Sutton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Son of Robert and Emma Cobb, of Station Road, Sutton-On-Trent. He was a farm servant prior to enlisting at Newark. He died of wounds, 26th August 1917, aged 23.
