Born and lived at Derby. Son of Henry and Harriett Clowes. He was a gimper prior to enlisting at Rugeley, Staffordshire. He was killed in action, 7th July 1916, age 43, in the attack on the Quadrangle Support, near Contalmaison, France during the Battle of the Somme.
