Born at Houghton-On-The-Hill, Leicestershire and lived at Little Bowden, Northamptonshire. . Son of Thomas Bird Clifford and Elizabeth Clifford, of Houghton-On-The-Hill, Leicester; Husband of Susan Ann Clifford, of 39, Granville Street, Market Harborough, Leicestershire. He was a carpenter and joiner prior to enlisting 9th November 1916 at Market Harborough. He was transferred to the 12th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and went ot France 28th September 1917. He died of wounds 22nd March 1918, aged 42.
