British 15 Star, British War and Victory Medal

Born in New Whittington, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of George and Emily Clewley, of 203 High Street, New Whittington, Derbyshire. He enlisted at Chesterfield and served in Gallipoli with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment during 1915. He was later transferred to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was killed in action 5th July 1916 in the attack on the German positions at La Boisselle, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
