Born and lived at Harrold, Bedfordshire. Son of John and Mary Clayson, of High Street, Harrold. He was a farm boy prior to enlisting at Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk. He was killed in action, 31st March 1917, aged 19, whilst the Battalion was in position at the Quarry, at Vraignes, France.
