Battalion: 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Allan and Ann Elizabeth Clay, of 33 Springfield Gardens, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He was a hosiery hand prior to enlisting on 9th December 1915 at Ilkeston. He went to France on 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, 26th September 1917, in the attack on Otto France near Gravenstafel, Belgium.
