Born at Alfreton. Derbyshire and lived at Mapperley, Nottingham. Husband of Elizabeth Clay of 30 Belvoir Street, Mapperley. He enlisted at Nottingham and was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.
