Born at Sheffield, Yorkshire. Husband of Ethel Clarke. He enlisted at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Was killed in action, 13th August 1916, whilst working on repairs of the trenches between Trones Wood and Bernafay Wood, France during the Battle of the Somme.
