Sergeant George Clarke

Battalion : 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Kimberley, Nottinghamshire. Son of Charles and Emma Clarke, of 4 Forest Place, Lenton, Nottingham. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 24th August 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 14th July 1915, was appointed Lance Corporal on 1st July 1917, promoted to Corporal on 16th August 1917, promoted on 9th September 1917. He died of wounds, 28th July 1918, received whilst serving in the line at Kemmel, Belgium.
Buried : Abeele Aerodrome Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 2, Row C. Grave 8.
