Born At Sutton, Macclesfield., Son of Alexander and Hannah Clarke. He enlisted at Buxton, Derbyshire. He was awarded the Military Medal, London Gazette 9th December 1916, for gallantry and devotion to duty during an attack on the enemy lines at Beaumont Hamel on 3rd September 1916: He died at Blackpool hospital of pneumonia 11th July 1918, aged 30, whilst attached to the Depot Battalion.
