Born and lived at Worksop, Nottinghamshire. Son of Frank and Ann Clark, of 20 Garside Street, Worksop. He was an employee at Smith Brothers Ltd., Alboin Mills, Worksop, prior to enlisting at Worksop. He went to France on 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
