Born in Nottingham. Son of Walter and Isabel Clark, of Nottingham. He was a general labourer prior to enlisting on 8th November 1907 at Nottingham. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was appointed Lance Corporal on 5th July 1916. He suffered a gunshot wound to his head on 26th October 1916 and was treated at 48 Casualty Clearing Station, Grove Town, Meaulte, Somme. He was transferred to No. 11 General Hospital at Cammieres, France 29th October 1916, and rejoined his battalion on 10th November 1916. and was killed in action, on 4th March 1917, aged 28, in the attack near Moislains, France.
