Private Alfred Clarson

Battalion : 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of Alfred and Margaret Clarson, of 10 Moor Street, Tamworth, Staffordshire. He was a paper maker’s labourer prior to enlisting 12th December 1915 at Tamworth. He went to France 13th October 1916 and was killed in action, 7th June 1917, on the first day of the Battle of Messine Ridge when the battalion were placed at the far left of the whole front.

His brother Private Arthur Clarson, 1st Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, also fell in the Great War.
