Born and lived at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of John and Elizabeth Clancy, of 25 St. Mary’s Gate, Chesterfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 7th July 1917 at Chesterfield. He went to France on 18th March 1916 and suffered gunshot wounds to his left shoulder on 8th January 1918 and died of wounds at No. 1 Casualty Clearing Station, Chocques, France, on 10th January 1918.
