Born and lived at Bilston, Staffordshire. Husband of Rose Anna Churn, of 7 Red Lion Yard, Priestfield, Staffordshire. He was a moulder prior to enlisting on 20th October 1914 at Wolverhampton. He went to Gallipoli on 2nd July 1915 and later went to France on 28th June 1916. He was transferred to the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 20th July 1916. He suffered gunshot wounds to his right arm on 7th June 1917 and was treated at 46 Casualty Clearing Station, at Mendinghem, Belgium. He went to Italy on 9th November 1917 and was killed in action, on 15th June 1918, during an Austrian attack on the trenches at San Sisto Ridge, Italy.
