Lance Corporal James Churm

Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

He was born at Bilston, Staffordshire and lived at 33 James Street, Arnold, Nottingham. Son of James and Harriett Churm, of 111, Croft Road, Stockingford, Warwickshire. He was a coal miner at gedling colliery, Nottingham and he enlisted at Arnold, Nottingham 30th April 1914. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and was appointed Lance Corporal 9th June 1915. He was killed in action by German shellfire, 27th June 1915, whilst serving in the line near Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
