Lance Corporal John Henry Churm

Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Staveley, Derbyshire. Son of Martha Beer (formerly Churm), of 114, Seymour Terrace, Norbriggs, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a shoemaker prior to enlisting on 6th January 1904. He served in Singapore from 3rd November 1904 to 11th December 1906 and in India from 12th December 1906 to 19th March 1913. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, by German shellfire, whilst serving in the trenches (Argyll Avenue) near Andover, France.
Died: 2nd February 1917, age 33.
