Battalion : 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Son of Charles and Frances Sarah Church, of 33 Gloucester Place Cheltenham. He was a gardener prior to enlisting at Cheltenham, 6th August 1915, into the 11th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment. He was transferred to the 2/9th Battalion Middlesex Regiment, 10th October 1916, then transferred to the 4th Battalion Hertfordshire Regiment, 14th December 1916 then to the 5th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment 4th July 1917. He went to France 3rd April 1918 and was transferred to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 4th April 1918. He was killed in action, 22nd April 1918, aged 18, in the German attack at Aveluy Wood, France.
