Lived at Chiddingstone, Kent. Son of Walter and Amelia Childs, Blackham, Langton Green, Tunbridge Wells; Husband of Lilian Mary Childs, Keepers Cottage, Bough Beech, Eden Bridge, Kent. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting on 10th April 1916 at Derby. He went to France on 19th July 1916 and was killed in action, 1st July 1917, age 37, in the attack on the German line to the west of Lens, France.
