Battalion: 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Alfreton, Derbyshire. Son of Thomas and Eliza Chester, of 25 Atlas Street, Nottingham. He was a bricklayer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France on 18th August 1915 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
