Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Son of Arthur and Sarah Ellen Chell, of Green Lane. Clifton, Ashbourne. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting on 22nd April 1908 at Derby. He went to France on the 8th of September 1914 and was killed in action, on the 1st of October 1914, aged 25, whilst in the line Vauberlin, having just moved from positions at the head of Moulin Valley, France.
Buried: Le Mans West Cemetery, France. Plot 38. 1914-18 Row A. Grave 51.
