Born and lived at Bulwell, Nottingham. Son of George and Louisa Cheetham, of 107, Hempshill Lane, Bulwell, Nottingham. Was educated at Coventry Road School, Bulwell, and was a miner at Cinderhill Colliery. He enlisted at Nottingham October 1915, went to France May 1916 and was killed in action, 8th October 1916, aged 19, in the attack on the German positions at the Schwaben Redoubt near Thiepval, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
