Lance Corporal Ernest Charlton

Battalion : 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of Richard and Elizabeth Charlton, of 16, Collison Street, Nottingham. He was a groom and driver for a pork butcher prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 18th August 1915 and was killed in action,14th April 1917, whilst the battalion was advancing, in an effort to straighten the salient near Gouzeaucourt, France.
