Husband of Mrs Gaillard (formerly Charles) of 42, Victoria Road, Netherfield, Nottingham. He was commissioned 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 16th September 1915. He joined the Battalion at Bienvillers, France, on 24th June 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
