He lived at Winkburn, Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Son of James and Emma Chapman of Winkburn, Southwell. Husband of Corin Nixon, Chapman, of 154 Main Street, Renishaw, Derbyshire. He was the Gamekeeper to the Duke of Newcastle. He enlisted at Newark, Nottinghamshire, 22nd January 1915, was appointed Lance Corporal 31st March 1916 and was killed in action 27th April 1916, when advancing on the rebel position at the Nurses home in the Grounds of the South Dublin Union, during the Irish Rebellion.
