Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Dudley, Staffordshire. Son of George and Jane Chapman, of 10 Wingworth Terrace Grassmoor, Derbyshire. Brother of James Chapman, of 10, East Street, Grassmoor. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Grassmoor. He went to France on 14th July 1915 and was killed in action, 7th July 1916, aged 34, in the attack near Contalmaison, France during the Battle of the Somme.
