Born and lived in Hackney, London. Son of Joseph and Emma Chapman; Husband of Ethel Chapman, of 12, Havelock Road, Well Street, Hackney. He was a walking stick maker prior to enlisting at Hackney. He was killed in action, 3rd October 1918, age 36, during the attack on the villages of Ramicourt and Montbrehain, France.
