Born at Louth, Lincolnshire and lived at Wakefield, Yorkshire. Son of Joseph and Ada Chapman, of 148, Newmarket, Louth. He enlisted at Retford, Nottinghamshire and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 35, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
