Private Charles Chapman

Army Number: 18939
Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Clay Cross, Derbyshire. Son of Aaron and Elizabeth Chapman, of 165 Bridge Street, Clay Cross. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He went to France on 17th August 1915 and was killed in action, 24th September 1915, by German shellfire, whilst in the line near Potijze, Belgium.
