Son of William and Mary Ellen Chaplin, of 83, Ashbourne Road, Derby. He was a telegraph messenger prior to enlisting on 28th February 1916 at Derby. He was wounded on 24th October 1916 and died of these wounds, 31st October 1916, age 20, at 5 General Hospital Rouen.
