Born at Derby and lived at 17 Markheaton Street, Derby. Son of Peter and Hannah Chantrey, of 5, Mount Pleasant, Carlton, Nottinghamshire. He was an engine cleaner prior to enlisting 9th December 1915 at Derby. He went to France on 4th October 1917 and was killed in action, 18th October 1917, aged 21, whilst in the line near Zillebeke, Belgium.

Died : 18th October 1917, aged 21.

Buried : Vichte Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 4, Row C. Grave 6.
