Born 25th June 1895 at Sutton, Surrey. Son of George Chandler and Maria Corderoy Chandler, of 7, Albany Road, St. Leonards-on-Sea, Sussex. Educated at Leys School, Cambridge. He was commissioned 6th January 1915 into the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. Went to France July 1915. He was wounded near Hooge, Belgium, 23rd September 1915. He was killed in action, 14th February 1916, aged 20, during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine, prior to the German attack of the front line trenches, near the canal to the south-east of Ypres, Belgium.
