Corporal William Chambers

Battalion : 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Langley Mill, Derbyshire. Son of John and Alice Chambers, of Kimberley Yard, Kimberley, Nottinghamshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 5th June 1915 at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He went to France on 6th March 1916 and was appointed Lance Corporal, 7th January 1917 and promoted to Corporal on 6th December 1917. He received gunshot wounds to his shoulder on 8th February 1918 and died at No. 5 Casualty Clearing Statio, Tincourt, France on 9th February 1918.
