Born at Derby and lived at 112 Mansfield Road, Derby. Son of George and Ann Chambers, of Castle Donington, Leicestershire. He was a clerk at the County Council Offices, St. Mary’s Gate, Derby, prior to enlisting 4th April 1913 at Derby. He was called upon the 4th of August 1914. Was appointed Lance Corporal 25th August 1914 and went to France 25th February 1915, and was promoted Sergeant 1st April 1915. He sustained extensive wounds when a grenade was accidentally exploded at 46th Division Headquarters and died of wounds, 9th July 1915, age 20, at No. 10 Casualty Clearing Station Remy Siding, Belgium
