Born at Denaby, Yorkshire. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Chamberlain of North Terrace, Kilburn, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 25th May 1915 at Derby. He went to France 6th March 1916 and was attached to the Tunneling Company Royal Engineers, 20th March 1916. He was killed in action,17th September 1917, age 19, in the attack on Bulgar Wood, Belgium.
